Introduced by the diretor of the museum Sebastian Pohl and opened by the personal words of the well-known TV cabaret artist Max Uthoff (“Die Anstalt”), the art association Positive-Propaganda opens the first institutional solo exhibition of the anonymous art activist NoNÅME in the AMUSEUM for contemporary art with over 90 previously unpublished original works of art .
In the spirit of philosophical forerunners John Heartfield, Keith Haring and BANKSY, NoNÅME positions himself in his works as a mouthpiece for the weakest members of our society, in order to address the most urgent challenges of our time head on with his art. Gentle as they may seem, his unmistakable visual language and trenchant humour poke their fingers into the wounds of our time. Blunt but never brutal or coarse, the works make clear references, identify connections and decipher their consequences. At their centre is the ever-present quest for a ‘better life’, to be attained through obsessive consumption, distraction, appropriation and deception. The price for this dream is a bittersweet tab run up by the supposed winners of this game, to be picked up by everyone else. C’est la vie!
